About this event

The National Museum of Taiwan Literature and the Cultural Division of the Taipei Representative Office in Germany invite you to two literary events in Berlin on 13 and 14 October. Writers Liu Ka-shiang and Stephan Thome and translator Karin Betz speak from different perspectives about Taiwan, local life, travel and literature.

On 14 October, under the title “Between Travel and Translation”, Liu Ka-shiang, Stephan Thome and Karin Betz talk about travel, life in Taiwan and how places, people and history are transformed into literature. Karin Betz shares insights into her German translation of “Taiwan Travelogue” and into how Taiwanese language, culture and everyday experience are carried into another language. She also presents her new translation of Sanmao’s “Stories of the Sahara” (Geschichten aus der Sahara).

The first event in the series, “From Everyday Life to Writing”, takes place on 13 October at P60.

Languages: Mandarin and German. Registration required. Cooperation partner: weltlesebühne.
