The Magic Jingju from Taiwan | Showcase & lecture

The GuoGuang Opera Company, Taiwan's national Jingju ensemble, tours Germany in autumn 2026 together with Knots of Culture and the Advantech Foundation, with workshops and performances in Würselen and Kempen.

The Kempen evening is open to everyone and has three parts. It opens with film excerpts from the company's new productions “Fox Tales”, “The Dream of an Embroidered Robe” and “The Princess and Her Magic Fan”, introduced by the creative team. Live scenes follow: a passage from “Fox Tales”, the martial piece “Lü Bu Tests His Horse” and the traditional “Zhong Kui” with its painted face and fire-breathing. To close, the company's make-up and costume masters show how the headdress and robes are put on, and the audience is invited on stage to try the movements and gestures. Doors open at 17:30.
